Pipe Band Report September 2015

The band has continued with our attendances at school fetes.
The band has continued with our attendances at school fetes and has been successful in recruiting several junior players for the band.  We have instituted a regular tuition programme for them so that they can become useful band members in a reasonable time.
Other recent performances have been at the Redfest at Cleveland show grounds, leading the lantern parade through the festival grounds and a Friday evening at the Sporting Club.  Both these performances were accepted well by the audience, particularly in the Club where we were made to feel very welcome.
We are constantly trying to improve the performance of individual members of the band and of the band as a whole.  To this end several members of our drumming corps attended a one day workshop at the Brisbane Boys College where they were tutored by top drummers from the wider band scene.
In order to increase our public profile and visibility, we have recently purchased a small marquee emblazoned with our name and logo so now nobody can miss us when we attend any public gathering.
