Pipe Band Report March 2018

Posted on Tuesday, 27 March 2018

Marching with the Stanthorpe Band.
Christmas outside the Club.
The Pipe band had a break over the Christmas and New Year but we still had a few events on.
We performed in the Sporting Club on Friday, 15 December and had a great turnout of seven pipers and five drummers as well as a solo from our two children learners. That’s the best turn out we’ve achieved for a long time so it’s good to see our hard work is paying off.
We also played on New Year’s Eve at the Old Courthouse in Cleveland. Everyone was in was good spirits and we were well received.
On Saturday, 3 March we took the band on a road trip to play in Stanthorpe at the Apple and Grape Festival. We teamed up with the Stanthorpe pipe band to form a larger band. In total there were over 150 pipers and drummers playing in a mass band and the main street was packed with spectators. It was great sight and sound for all.
Finally, we have our annual competition locked in for 28 April at the Redlands Cricket Club off Birkdale Road, Wellington Point. Flyers are at Club Reception. Everybody is welcome to come along. There will be lots of bagpipes but also a variety of stalls. A big thank you to the Redlands Sporting Club and also the Cricket Club for their on-going support. We wouldn’t be able to host the competition without them
If anyone would like the band to perform at an event in the local area please don’t hesitate to contact us.
As usual, we provide free lessons for bagpiping and drumming, if anyone is interested please contact me.
