Three Drummers St Patrick's Day Parade 2016

Three Drummers St Patrick’s Day Parade 2016

The band new year has started rather slowly with only one public performance to date, but we have quite a few engagements coming up in the next few months.

On 12 March the band participated in the Brisbane St Patricks Day parade (see photo) and a good time was had by all, including the Guinness in Murphy’s Irish Bar afterwards!

We are now gearing up for our inaugural pipe band competition which will be held on 16 April on the Tigers cricket ground.  We have called for entrants in the competition and are now waiting for responses, which close early in April.  The Australian Pipe Band Association (Queensland Branch) is assisting us on the day by providing judges and assisting with the programme.  The competition will run from 10 am to 3 pm, so come along for a good day’s entertainment.

Anzac Day will be another busy day with band members playing at morning ceremonies from Lota to Victoria Point.  After that the band will participate in the Cleveland Anzac Day march, followed by a performance at Renaissance Retirement Village.  We will probably relax in the Redlands Sporting Club later in the day.

Other activities will be reported as they occur during the year.

We are always looking for new members for the band, so if you have an interest in learning pipes or drums, or have played in the past and thinking of taking it up again, please contact us.
