Another year of golf has come and gone before our eyes with our last fixture played at Howeston on 9 December. This was followed up with our combined Christmas/Presentation function which was held at the Redlands Sporting Club.
Over the past three months we have completed our Club Championship as well as our fortnightly fixtures. The results of our Club Championships in each grade were: – A Grade: Tony McKinlesss,
B Grade: John Monro, C Grade: Praga Pilay. The overall Club Champion, awarded to player with the best gross score over two rounds was won by Tony McKinless. Another great effort from Tony picking up both of these trophies for two years running.
During this period we have also had one of our members join the “hole – in one” club, with Dave Johnston acing the 11th hole at Windaroo.
Our last trophy game, the Patrons Trophy, a Single Stableford event traditionally played at Redland Bay was won by Geoff Graham with a massive score of 49 points. Needless to say Geoff is now playing off a greatly reduced handicap after accumulation a score like that.
Next year we have decided to play at some golf clubs that we have not visited in quite a few years. These include Nudgee, St Lucia and McLeod. We also have bus trips planned for Ocean Shores and Beerwah as well as the normal courses that we play locally.
This year we have managed to attract quite a few new members to the club who appear to be enjoying themselves. So if you are looking for a game of golf on a Sunday morning with a great bunch of people please get in contact and we will ensure you have a great time.
We will now be having a break over the Christmas/New Year period for five weeks before we have our first fixture for 2019 at Wynnum on 13 January.
