Redlands and QLD Bulls player James Peirson

Redlands Cricket played host to the Queensland Bulls, the AIS Indigenous Team and Papua New Guinea in August as the teams prepared for the up-coming season. Former Australian player Jason Gillespie was coach of the PNG side and was very impressed with our facilities.

The Brisbane Premier Competition is now underway after a staggered start to the new season. First Grade commenced on Saturday, 2 September 2017 to enable our Qld Bulls representatives – Sam Heazlett, Marnus Labuschagne, James Peirson and James Bazley to play with the club before taking part in the National Matador Cup Competition at the end of the month. They have recorded one win from four games with Sam and Marnus showing good early form with the bat.

Second Grade along with our Under 16 Taverners team have played two games and are yet to record a win after two close games.

The remaining Grades commenced at the weekend and Redlands recorded wins in third, fourth, fifth and both sixth Grades. Paul Bonney from our sixth Grade no 1 team was the star of the weekend scoring 12 fours and three sixes in his total of 76 not out from 26 balls.

Our Women’s team have been training well with the Jodie Fields second Grade Competition getting under way on Sunday, 8 October 2017.

Congratulations to Redlands Tigers Women’s 2nd Grade player Clodagh Ryall who recently attended a high-performance camp at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane. Clodagh was one of three Queenslanders selected in the 2017 Women’s National Indigenous Squad following a successful 2016/17 season.

Our Senior Affiliate Clubs commenced their season last Saturday in the Warehouse and Sub-Districts competitions. The Juniors have commenced their pre-season training with their season to start following the school holidays.

Some matches in the U17 National Championships will be played at Redlands on 1, 2, 4 and 5 October 2017. Games commence at 9.30 am each day.
