Some great development for Sports Karate Australia for 2012.

Firstly our new committee: President Narelle Gibson, Vice President Chris DeBRruijn, Secretary Helen Conway, Treasurer Tony Mortimer, Committee Members Lesley Jeffs, Liz Sheen, Gary Carey, Kellyann Macpherson, Sharon Thompson, Neil Bartlett. A fresh new team with great ideas. On February 12 we enjoyed the Redlands Open Sports Day and finished the day with bowls at the club and lunch at the bistro. 45 of our members had a great time bowling and learned a lot.

Thanks to Liz and the boys for organising it. And again we had 25 people for lunch Then on March 4 we had 25 people join us for lunch in the Club Steakhouse as this is proving to be very popular. Athletes, Clinton De Bruijn, Deana Erskine, Jacinta Gibson and Tomas Cracknell respresented us at the AKF international in Sydney, coached by Shihan Rene Roggeveen. Great results with Jacinta winning a Bronze in Kumite and Tomas one in Kata. The team competes at the JKFGK Nationals in Adelaide on 17 March and flys to Las Vegas for the Ozawa international on 6, 7 and 8 April. Their training regime has been extensive. We are fortunate to have a Grand Master visiting – the International Head of the Japan Karate Federation of Goju Kai, Seiichi Fujiwarra Hanshi 8th Dan, will visit our dojos on 11 March. People from all over Queensland will be attending. It is a great honour for us to be invited to host one of the world leaders for Traditional Karate do.
