Fishing
A Fad is a floating buoy attached to the sea bed by an anchor device and a cable or rope. The buoy must meet Local Government requirements, and exhibit markings and lights that comply to International Navigation Compliance Regulation’s. Most countries insist that the FAD’s comply with their Defense Department Regulations. The buoy size is designed to withstand local sea and current forces and must be engineered to withstand any severe weather or storm wave conditions.
The buoy has a central pole fitted with a St. Andrew’s Cross and an all round flashing light, complying with the International Navigation Standards for “Special Marks”. The pole is powder-coated bright yellow and is ballasted to suit the rope length, current and wind drag. A combination of floating and sinking ropes and cables anchor the buoy on position.
Fishfad’s Management have, over the past 27 years, refined the complete FAD system into the device that is currently being deployed. We have been instrumental in assisting Governments with Compliance and Deployment requirements and Environmental issues.
Fishfad designs has evolved over many years of trials, fine tuning and input from scientists and engineers, and most importantly, the fishing industry. The result is a FAD that has been proven to function and minimize any interaction with wildlife including whales, turtles and dolphins. Whatever your application, Fishfads can design a FAD for your area confidently knowing it will achieve maximum possible success.
