Netball
Welcome to the wonderful NEW Allstars Netball Club. We started off 2011 a little shakey, however we welcome our wonderful new committee for 2011. The club continues to move forward with excitement, growth and to promote sport fun in our community. We are excited with the completion of our new clubhouse and have it decked out with all of the necessities. The girls have a selection of drinks and snacks and the parents have access to hot beverages during training afternoons. It also provides sufficient space for all of our equipment and club gear. We have recently competed at Downey Park Annual carnival with 6 teams entering the competition. After a fabulous club day together we had two teams take out 1st place trophies within their division, and another team placing second. Fun was had by all!!
We take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank you to Redlands Sporting Club for their support and ongoing commitment throughout our changes. And of course a HUGE thank you to our dedicated families within the club for their commitment and patience, because without them we would not have our GREAT Allstars Netball Club.

Karate
Sports Karate Australia have had a successful few months with several international and regional tournamentsincluding the Ozawa Cup and USA Open Junior Olympics in Las Vegas and the Darling Downs Karate Championships in Toowoomba.
In April, our representative team travelled to Las Vegas to compete in the Ozawa Cup and USA Open Junior Olympics. The team did Australia proud with excellent results at an international level and special congratulations goes to Tomás Cracknell who won a silver medal in the 12-13yrs boys Kumite at the USA Open.
Sports Karate students are currently training hard in preparation for their mid-year gradings. Our mid-year grading includes a Black Belt grading, which is the culmination of years of training and progression through the Sports Karate ranks. Students Jordan McWilliams (Wellington Point) and Tony Mortimer (Wynnum) are being assessed for their Black Belts at this week-long grading and we would like to take this opportunity to wish them the best of luck.
Finally, we are holding an Open Day on July 16th to celebrate the opening of our new Dojo at Fox Street in Wynnum. There will be free karate lessons, demonstrations, games, jumping castles and a barbeque. All are welcome to attend this exciting event.
If you are interested in joining Sports karate Australia or finding out more about our Open Day, please contact Shihan Rene Roggeveen on 0412061407.

The culmination of the season was the annual Presentation Night that recognised the efforts of all swimmers during the season. Runners-up were Tony McKinless and Nick Edwards with a net 621⁄4.As usual our bus trips are extremely popular and our trip to Woodford in April was another great day.
