Sports Karate Australia (SKA) students have recently competed in the Japan Karate Federation (JKF) Australian National Championships in April and the Darling Downs Karate Championships in May.

At the JKF Nationals both Jacinta Gibson and Deanna Erskine performed outstanding katas, placing 1st and 3rd in highly competitive divisions. While in a very tough kumite competition, SKA students again demonstrated their skills with the following results: Jacinta (1st), Juan Sperling (2nd), and Tomas Cracknell (3rd).

In Toowoomba our students were again dominant, with many ‘personal best’ performances. The following students placed first in one or all of their divisions: Saffron Anderson, Deanna Erskine, Clinton De Bruijn, Jake Mortimer, Tomas Cracknell, Juan Sperling, Stephanie Grace, Nicole Grace, Richelle Grace.

Finally, our Australian team returned from the Ozawa Cup triumphant and SKA plan to make attending the tournament an annual event. All of our competitors placed in one or more of their divisions - a fantastic result at an international level!
