Our biggest competition of the year - the Redlands Championship was in full swing on 13 September. They were postponed from June due to the extraordinary amount of rain which made the grounds unusable. The Redlands Championship draws competitors from throughout South-East Queensland and northern New South Wales due to the generous prize money and the competition's reputation of being well managed, relaxed, and horse and rider friendly.
The horse community is currently feeling a certain amount of anxiety due to the recent cases of Hendra Virus detected in Rockhampton. The Redlands horse community is particularly sensitive to this given that the last outbreak was in the Redlands area. The Department of Primary Industries provides extensive guidelines for event organisers and competitors to minimise any risk.
